Powering the Home with Solar and Stored Energy

The homeowner wanted to get more from their solar system and make better use of the energy generated during the day. With household energy use continuing beyond daylight hours, battery storage provided a way to store excess solar energy and use it later when needed.
The project was designed to increase solar self-consumption, reduce reliance on grid electricity and give the homeowner greater flexibility in how they use their energy.
System Overview
PV: 14.725KW Solar PV modules
Inverter: Deye SUN-10K-SG04LP3-AU *1pc
Battery: Deye AI-W5.1 *10pcs
Reduced Grid Reliance
In August 2026, the system generated 0.99 MWh of solar energy, while the home used 0.94 MWh. The battery supplied 0.51 MWh of stored energy during the month, and only 0.05 MWh was drawn from the grid. A further 0.07 MWh was exported back to the grid.
The figures show that most of the home's electricity use was covered by solar and stored energy, with only a small amount of electricity coming from the grid.
